MEDICAL SERVICESCervical Smears All female patients between the ages of 20 and 65 are advised to have regular smear tests. You will be sent a reminder. The tests are carried out in our well woman clinics. Antenatal Care You should confirm your pregnancy with the doctor. Your care will then be provided jointly by the doctor (in our well woman clinic), our community midwife and the hospital. Family Planning Dr Edwards and Dr Buky, with our practice nurses, provide a full range of contraceptive services in normal surgeries. Dr Walters is available for advice on natural family planning only. Pre-conception counselling is offered in normal surgeries and our well woman clinics. Child Health and Immunisation In the baby clinic Dr Buky and Dr Walters work with our health visitors to offer developmental checks and immunisations. Our clinic is an appointment service and appointments can be made at reception. We also operate a re-call system for routine immunisations. Health Visitors also offer an alternative drop in clinic on Mondays at Brynteg Clinic 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Our practice nurses are also available for child immunisations by appointment. Minor Surgery Dr Edwards and Dr Buky perform simple surgical procedures under local anaesthesia and regular wart clinics, by appointment. Health Promotion We offer advice on looking after your health, during our normal surgeries and clinics and by appointment with our nurses. Travel Immunisation and Advice Please make an appointment with our nurse at least eight weeks prior to departure. A charge will be made for certain immunisations which are not covered by the NHS. Flu Vaccinations Influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing homes. Please contact reception staff in September for details of vaccination dates. Non NHS Examinations The doctors are happy to carry out medicals eg insurance and driving licence, by appointment.
