people behind the reception desk are usually your first point of contact and will
try in every way to help you. The more information you are able to give them,
the better they will be able to help you. You may sometimes be kept waiting because
they are dealing with several other problems at the same time. Please be patient.

bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctors and nurses.

The practice nurses run clinics which
monitor the health of people with diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and heart
disease. They are available by appointment during surgery hours and their many
tasks include taking blood samples, general health advice, travel advice and immunisation,
childhood vaccinations, cervical smears, dressings and suture removal, dietary
advice and basic health checks including those for the elderly.
